DESCRIPTION
Zinc Stearate is produced and supplied in a number grades – Ordinary, Laq and Wettable. It is a fine white powder, with a slightly greasy texture. It is completely insoluble in water, low molecular weight alcohols, esters and ketones, and is only slightly soluble in aromatic substances. It is acknowledged to be completely non-toxic. The product is packed in 25kg multi-ply paper sacks or 500 kg bulk bags.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Zinc Stearate has a large number of industrial applications –
Ordinary Grade
- As a non-toxic stabiliser in PVC, usually in conjunction with Calcium Stearate
- As a lubricant in the production and processing of polyolefins
- As a mould release agent for polyester, melamine, urea and phenolic resins
- As a flatting agent in paint
Laq Grade
- As a flatting agent in paint
- As a component in the rubber vulcanising process
Wettable Grade
- As an anti-tack agent in rubber processing
