DESCRIPTION
Magnesium Stearate is non-toxic and insoluble in water, low molecular weight alcohols, ester and ketones, but soluble in aromatic compounds. It is a fine white powder, with a slightly greasy texture and can be used for most of the applications found for Calcium Stearate, although the lower cost of the latter Magnesium Stearate is usually used for its exclusive properties. The product is packed in 25kg multi-ply paper sacks.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Magnesium Stearate has a large number of industrial applications –
- Cosmetics as a foam regulator and to add pearlescence to shampoos
- Release agent in various resin systems
- As a lubricant in deep drawing emulsions
- Hydrophobing agent in fire extinguisher powders
- Binding and mould release agent in dry powder pressure mouldings
